About NSERC Collaborative Research And Training Program
The CREATE program aims to support highly qualified students and postdoctoral fellows from Canada and abroad through innovative training programs that promote collaboration and address significant scientific challenges aligned with Canada’s research priorities.
The program also aims to prepare trainees for productive careers in industry, government, non-governmental organizations, or academia by fostering the acquisition of professional skills that complement their technical skills.

What Are The Benefits of NSERC Collaborative Research And Training Program
The scholarship provides:
- Up to $150,000 in the first year
- Up to $300,000 for up to five subsequent years
NSERC Collaborative Research And Training Program Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- CREATE grants are tenable only at NSERC-eligible Canadian universities.
- The applicant must hold an eligible position at that university. Researchers at non-eligible organizations may participate as collaborators.
- Co-applicants and collaborators described on NSERC’s website under Eligibility criteria for faculty.
- Please note that the 1-year COVID-19 extension to CREATE grants is added to the grant duration and affects the eligibility of applicants or co-applicants for new applications to the CREATE program.
How to Submit Application
#Step 1: Applying to the CREATE program involves a two-phase application process—phase 1: Letter of intent, and phase 2: Application.
#Step 2: The CREATE program is highly selective, with pre-screening based on the LOI. Only applicants successful at the LOI stage will be invited to submit an application.

The deadline to submit an application for this scholarship is 1 May and 22 Sep 2023.
