About Beacon Scholarships for University
Up to six new undergraduate Beacon Scholarships for University are offered each academic year, one to each Beacon Partner University. Candidates must be Nominated by their current School Head, and once they have an offer of admission, will be invited to apply for a Beacon Scholarship for University.

What Are The Benefits of Beacon Scholarships for University
The scholarship provides:
- Up to £12-15k (US$15-20k) a year.
Beacon Scholarships Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Capacity to study independently overseas (which necessarily involves consideration of the applicant’s competence in English)
- The applicant must be a national of, and ordinarily resident in Kenya, Tanzania or Uganda
- Financial need – see below
- The likely contribution of the candidate to other areas of university life
- Commitment to return to their home country within one month of degree completion and thereafter remain in their home country for at least two full years (unless otherwise agreed in writing with the Beacon Equity Trust)
- Commitment to make a contribution to the development of their home country
